Printing fun

The last of our Heritage Week events took place today. Thanks to all who attended all week for making our opening week so interesting.There is still time to book for the morning and afternoon sessions starting on 5th September. Still-Life Drawing for adults will take place on Monday mornings from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm; Creativity classes for 8 to 12 year olds are on Monday afternoons from 4.00 to 5.30 pm; Creative mornings for parents and toddlers on Wednesdays from 10.00 to 11.00 am; Creativity for 5 to 7 year olds from 3.30 to 4.30 pm on Thursdays and for 13 to 18 year olds from 5.00 to 6.30 pm on Thursdays while Creative Embroidery for adults is on from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm on Fridays. Clay inlay and Clay Slab-building

Two more successful workshops today. We started inlay with some inspiration from the Early Christian symbols in the heritage exhibition, then everyone created their own, while we looked at the beautiful buildings of the village before making mugs and bowls in slab-building.

Our final Heritage Week workshops are on tomorrow:
Friday 26th August
12.00 to 1.20 pm – Mono-prints
(All ages, max 24)
Be inspired by the built heritage of our beautiful village and create a series of mono-prints. Bring along photos of the village if you have some.

Friday 26th August
1.40 to 3.00 pm – Printing with odds and ends
(All ages, max 24)
Tour our heritage exhibition with our guide and gather your ideas. Work in groups on large sheets or on your own, using odds and ends to create a textured print inspired by the tour.

Woodland Batik and Creative Embroidery

We had a packed house this afternoon, with lots of textile work going on. Here's some pictures and a reminder that we will have an exhibition of the Heritage Week artworks running from Monday 5th to Saturday 17th September.

Thursday's workshops

Thursday 25th August
12.00 to 1.20 pm – Clay inlay
(All ages, max 16)
Get inspiration from our Early Christian heritage and invent your own meaningful symbol to create with two colours of clay. Add texture and detail to complete your creation.

Thursday 25th August
1.40 to 3.00 pm – Clay slab-building
(8+, max 16)
Create a clay vessel or relief plaque using the village of Ardagh as inspiration. Look closely at the details of the buildings: tiles, stones, weather vanes etc. Bring along your own photos if you have some.

Great fun was had again today, re-enacting a painting at 12.00 and a full house Painting the Legend at 1.40.
Tomorrow is almost booked out, just one or two places left for Batik at 12.00.
