Celebrate Culture Night with Comhaltas

There are events all over Ireland tomorrow, Friday 21st September for Culture Night. As part of the celebrations the Longford branches of Comhaltas Ceoltórí Éireann are coming together for a music session in Ardagh Heritage and Creativity Centre from 7.00pm. We're looking forward to enjoying the talented musicians again. Here's some pictures from their last visit:

German and French starting next week

German and French with Andrea
We are delighted to welcome Andrea, a native of Switzerland and a qualified Secondary School teacher of German and French. Classes for adults and secondary school students start on Wednesday 26th September. German from 5.30 to 6.15pm, €8 per person; French from 6.30 to 7.15pm, €8 per person.

 A German club for children is also beginning on Saturday mornings from 11am to 12pm, €7 per person.

Thanks to Ciorcal Cómhra Ard Mhacha, Martin Morris and all who attended on Saturday for making it an entertaining afternoon. We're already looking forward to next year.

Ciorcal Comhrá Ard Mhacha return

Ciorcal Comhrá Ard Mhacha visited us last year just after we opened for an entertaining afternoon of history, song, poetry and music. They are returning to us this Saturday 8th September at 12 noon as part of their two day trip to Co. Longford to celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of Ballinamuck in 1798. Martin Morris will give a talk on local unrest at the time. Follow the link below to a short clip of the action last year. All welcome, just drop in.

Repeat performance

Following a number of requests we are pleased to announce that there will be a repeat performance of the Midir and Etain legend on Saturday 18th August at 7.00pm (Later on the evening of our Heritage Week First Anniversary Family Day).

The show brings together a wonderful cast aged from six months right up to adults and with a mixture of mime, ballet, harp playing and narration brings the Midir and Etain legend to life around the audience.
