8 to 12 years - Block 2

The 8 to 12 year olds are working on a puppetry or stop-motion project in groups for Block 2. They have already designed story-boards and started working on models. We have some interesting ideas developing which will result in either short animated clips or puppet shows by Christmas. There are still places available and it's not too late to join in for this block. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it develops. Watch out for more photos over the next few weeks.

Recent toddler mornings

The parent and toddler creative mornings continue on Wednesdays from 10.00 to 11.00am. Feel free to drop in any week that suits. Here's some of the recent creations:

Still-Life Painting

I'm really delighted at how these turned out, all from complete beginners, some not fully completed yet. Still-Life painting continues on Monday mornings from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. Call to book or just drop in, €20 per week with free tea or coffee.

Our first ten weeks on YouTube

We've just uploaded pictures from our first ten weeks on YouTube, it's hard to believe we did all this in such a short time!

Club Ardagh mid-term camp

We had two very enjoyable mornings with the children and staff from Club Ardagh during the mid-term. After a walk in the woods on a beautiful sunny morning we painted some trees using twigs as brushes. The next morning we gathered more leaves and printed our forest floor with them before creating trees with our collected twigs and branches and decorating the ground with beech nuts, pine cones and leaves. It took a bit of experimenting to make our trees stand, but we also found some time for a bit of drawing, sticking and tie-dying too. The winter forest is still there on display if anyone wants to pop in and see for themselves.

Crochet on Thursdays

We are delighted to announce that Ashling Keenan will be teaching a crochet course for four weeks on Thursday mornings from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm starting on 10th November. Contact us for bookings and further details.

Updates

We've been so busy with preparations for Ardagh School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and other events that there was no time left to post updates here all week. The weekend was a great success and we want to sincerely thank all of our volunteers for helping with beast building, decorating, face-painting, tea and coffee making and general scariness over the last few weeks. All Block 1 classes have now finished and we are taking bookings for Block 2 courses which start from Monday 7th November. New students are welcome any week during each block (subject to places being available).

The 4 to 7 and 8 to 12 year old groups finished last week with small presentations of their work in front of family members. Classes resume for 8 to 12 year olds on Monday next from 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm and for 4 to 7 year olds from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm on Thursday 10th November. Creativity for 13 to 18 year olds also takes place on Thursdays from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm.

Still-Life Painting is starting for adults on Monday mornings from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and Creative Textiles continues on Friday mornings from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. Bookings on 086 3027602 or creativeardagh@gmail.com.

Last week we also had an enjoyable costume making workshop as part of  the Aisling Children's Arts Festival and Club Ardagh mid-term camp students visited this morning and return tomorrow for some seasonal art. We are creating a winter forest and had great fun in the morning sunshine collecting leaves and branches in the woods and painting with twigs and other items. Pictures will be posted when it's completed.
